Первый альбом легендарного уже голландского проекта Until Death Overtakes Me сильно отличается от всех последующих. И ни "funeral", ни "doom", ни вообще "metal" он не является. Музыку можно описать как симфонический дроун/эмбиент, и здесь нет всепоглощающего мрака и тотальной депрессии, разве что, сумрак и легкая меланхолия. Бал правят легкие и воздушные клавишные, drone-гитара явно на третьих ролях. Вокал еще не настолько перегружен многочисленнными примочками и звучит менее глубоко, зато более... чувственно даже, что ли. И уж совсем до костей пробирает тихий вкрадчивый шепот, возникающий внезапно (но очень в тему) на композиции "Careless, Painless, Far Away". Вообще же, данная пластинка одинаково легко поможет скоротать как короткий летний вечер, так и длинную зимнюю ночь, - в отличие от большинства альбомов в этом стиле, "Symphony I - Deep Dark Red" обладает замечательным свойством не надоедать, да и атмосфера здесь также удивительно светлая... |

The thought of death...unreal and afar
