Crimson Sting - Demo Review by Luciano "Alemão" - Roadie Crew Megazine:.... It's very refreshing to get a demo like this one to review. Fisrt because we're talking about a very skilled and technical band, but most of all, a very inspired one! Second because you listen this demo a large amount of times without being able to determinate a genre to fit the band..... Hailing from Varginha/MG (Brazil), Alpha Scorpii plays a mishmash of melodic Death Metal much in the vein of Arch Enemy, Carcass (heartwork era) and some Symphonic Black Metal parts, being Dimmu Borgir the first name appearing in mind because of the synths, and even some Thrash Metal riffing here and there reminding a lot of the earlier work of Megadeth. But hey, we're not dealing with copycats here. Their music is very personal and original, really refreshing, comparing to most bands in the scene nowadays..... Formed by Raphael Wagner (vocals and Guitar), Paulo Henrique (Guitar), Marcel de Paula (Bass and Backing Vocals), Barbara Lyrae (Keyboards) and Leandro Fonseca (drums, who joined the band right after the recording of this demo), Alpha Scorpii - which is the name of the Brightest star on the Scorpio constelation - give us four long tracks, around 5 minutes, with tons of variations and finésse. Tunes like The Pandora's Box, Cold Requiem, Azure Wrath and Eternal Punishment (by far the best one with amazing guitar work), show us a very skilled duo of axe-shredders and an outstanding keyboard work..... The lyrics deal mostly with Greek Mithology, and themes related to mankind and its struggles. The artwork of the demo was made by the acclaimed Gustavo Sazes (Abstrata.net). WIth this fine piece of music, it will take not much time for this band to come up with their debut album, which will surely be a solid work.....
