Composing of six young musicians, Brymir is an emerging band from Helsinki expressing fast-paced epic melodic metal enhanced with huge orchestrations and choirs. Majestic melodies, intense riffs and aggressive vocals define Brymir. Since their conception in 2006, Brymir evolved rapidly from humble beginnings into a mature band, and are now about to release their debut-album through the Spinefarm-records label. Brymir was formed in the summer 2006 when three young aspiring musicians from very different backgrounds came to cross paths by chance. These three (Sean Haslam – guitar, Viktor Gullichsen – vocals and Joona Björkroth – guitar), though differing quite noticeably in their preferences for metal, found a common note in the folky, epic metal of such bands as Ensiferum & Wintersun and soon were busy wasting some warm summer days in inspiring jamming. All three managed to recruit able friends to join in the fun and the initial line-up was completed with the additions of bass (Jarkko Niemi), keyboards (Janne Björkroth) and drums (Jaakko Tikkanen). The group tested its wings live as a cover-band that summer, and discovered itself to be quite a proficient and energetic force. As the summer started to near its end, it was decided that such a well- and hardworking group should not come to an abrupt end. The saving grace came in the form of the completion of the first original song, and at the very first rehearsal it became clear that the journey of the band had just begun. With a boundless ambition, the troupe set itself to perfect its very own brand of epic metal. After some soul-searching, the name Brymir was chosen as a suitable name for the band. Hectic practising and song-writing sessions ensued, and Brymir’s first step into the realm of recordings turned out phenomenally good for such a young group. With just two songs released via internet, the band already caught the attention of the Spinefarm-records label, famous for such acts as Nightwish, Children of Bodom and the afore-mentioned Ensiferum. The record-deal wasn’t to be made public for some time, for with the young age of the musicians came the schedule-breaking problems concerning the compulsory 6-12 months military service for young Finnish men. During this break the band continued its frantic work into writing even bigger, better songs, and also allowed time for some individual soul-searching for the members themselves. With some sadness, the troupe said farewell to J. Tikkanen at this point, who chose to pursue other ambitions. Their duties fulfilled and Sami Hänninen recruited as the new and improved drummer, the band exploded into action. As many shows were booked as possible and already the album-recording schedule was set up. When everything was ready, Brymir entered Rockstar Productions –studio in Hyvinkää. Things started rolling, and the true toil began... Finally, after the blood, sweat and tears of seemingly unending weeks recording and mixing, Brymir is ready to release “Breathe Fire To The Sun” in April 2011.
